Are Ommellinen clothes generously sized or more fitted?
This is a question we get quite often here at Ommellinen. We believe that our collections are generally true to size. However, rather than focusing solely on clothing size, we prefer to consider how body proportions and garment styles affect fit and how the wearer experiences the garment overall.
We want our customers to discover the styles that suit them best. We are all beautifully different – one person may have long legs, another a long torso. Some need room around the hips, others around the shoulders, and some feel most comfortable in a straight-cut style. At Ommellinen, we believe these individual body proportions play a much bigger role in how a garment fits than the size label alone.
We strive to offer something for everyone while recognising that not every style will feel right for every person. Above all, we hope that you choose clothes that you genuinely love and feel good wearing. When your clothes are comfortable, high-quality and well-fitting, they bring confidence and joy.
Although we don’t like to categorise our garments for specific body types, the Mekkotunika, for example, is a beautiful choice for those with an A-line or hourglass figure. The Mekkotunika has a fitted upper part, gently narrows at the waist, and then flares out towards the hem, offering more room around the hips. The models in the photo are wearing Ommellinen sizes: XXXL (165 cm) and XXL (162 cm).
The Särmä shirt is a stylish and classic design that suits absolutely everyone. It is perhaps most at home on an H-shaped body.

There’s no single “correct” way to size a garment – every clothing brand has its own collection and sizes are designed according to each company’s own approach. This is why it can be difficult to compare sizes across different labels. We at Ommellinen have visited other clothing shops too and noticed that size labels can vary significantly between brands.
