Care instructions for merino wool knit

To keep your solid merino knit soft and durable, proper care is essential. Ommellinen’s merino knits are treated with a superwash finish, so they can be machine washed on a wool cycle. However, airing the garment out, especially in fresh outdoor air or snow, is the best regular care to keep it fresh and odor-free.

Spot-clean stains promptly, especially at sleeve ends, using a gentle soap like bile soap. For a full wash, turn the garment inside out and use a wool programme at 30°C with wool detergent (pH under 7). Avoid fabric softeners. Since merino wool naturally shrinks, gently reshape the garment after washing and lay flat to dry. Avoid overstretching. You may iron the dry garment gently on the reverse side with the lowest heat setting or through a damp cloth.

Minimize mechanical abrasion to prevent pilling, but if pills appear you can gently remove them by hand. This helps the fiber ends seal themselves again.

Store your beautiful merino garments folded in a well-ventilated space. Lightweight knits can also be hung on a padded hanger.
